The Royal Canadian Mint holds the honor of the first mint to commercially produce a 99.99 percent bullion gold coin.

The Canadian gold Maple Leaf coin was introduced back in 1979. During that time the only other gold coin available was the South African gold Krugerrand due to a boycott of apartheid in South Africa. These coins have become some of the most desirable bullion coins in the world today, and make investing in gold much more appealing. This one-quarter gold bullion coin is beautifully struck with a gold purity of .9999 (24 karat).
