The Marianas campaign during 1944 included some of the fiercest naval battles to be fought in the Pacific. Admiral Chester Nimitz was tasked with retaking a number of strategic islands to cripple the Japanese position and put the America on the offensive. More than 5204 people perished in June 1944, including more than 4000 US military personnel, during the campaign.

The American Memorial Park on the island of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, commemorates those lives. The Park includes a World War II museum and a flag monument. There are also recreational facilities, white sandy beaches and 30 acres of protected wetland and mangrove forest for visitors to enjoy. This American memorial coin can be yours!
