Denali National Park is in many ways symbolic of the greater Alaskan wilderness and frontier. It is massive, with a total area of 6 million acres. It is wild, with just one road providing access. It is filled with Alaska's famous wildlife. And it offers some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world, including the tallest peak in North America.

The park was established in 1917 as Mount McKinley National Park. The Park's name was changed to Denali in 1980, but the mountain at its center retained its name as Mt. McKinley. President Barack Obama issued an executive order renaming the mountain to Denali as well in 2015. His order was the culmination of decades of effort to have the mountain's original native name restored.
