$GLD and $SLV Prices as of December 2 2019 @moneymetals

9:27 AM

December 2, 2019 – Gold and silver prices were essentially unchanged during Thanksgiving week. The fact that the metals held steady was a good performance given stock prices moved up.

Overall November was a tough month for the metals. But new sellers at the current price levels may be getting scarce.

That said, the metals need a catalyst to get something going to the upside, and it isn’t clear what will be driving prices in the near term.

The Fed is not expected to adjust rates at the December meeting.

Progress toward a trade deal with China remains difficult to judge. Headlines are on again, off again – much as they have been over the past two years. The economic data is mixed, but sentiment, at least as measured by stock prices, remains strong.

Investors who still watch the data will see reports on manufacturing, consumer sentiment, and employment this week.
