The obverse side of the bar shares its design with the "buffalo nickel". It is the profile of a Native American Chieftain - both stoic and dignified. Above and to the right of the portrait is the word "Liberty". Below the portrait the bar is marked with "Copper". the purity and the weight in standard (avoirdupois) ounces.

The reverse side features a patriotic design incorporating spread wings representing liberty and the stars and stripes, along with the copper weight and purity.
